What’s on for children and adults

All activities are free and don’t need to be booked in advance. Find out what’s on at your local library.

Regular activities for children

Bounce and Rhyme

A relaxed, fun session for new-borns up to crawlers (little ones who are just starting to crawl). Each session follows a structure so you and your baby get used to coming along, hearing songs, and shaking musical instruments. And there are bubbles!

Rhyme Time

More songs and stories for slightly older children. Suitable for cruisers (toddlers who are up and walking) to pre-schoolers, you’ll find a similar format to the Rhyme Time sessions: lots of singing, waving scarves, and giggling!

Story Time

Similar to Rhyme Time but suitable to older brothers and sisters. These special sessions run during the school holidays and offer a mix of stories and songs, followed by a craft activity. Suitable for all ages.

Building Block Play

Have fun building towers (and knocking them down again!) with your little one. Mega Bloks and tables are in the children’s library for you and your little ones to get creative. Not suitable for under ones.

Lego Club

Transform our Lego and Duplo into spaceships, castles, or anything else young minds can create!

Sunday Funday

Every Sunday during staffed hours at Bedford Central Library you’ll find giant board games and big building blocks to enjoy with your family in the children’s section.

Saturday Kids Club

Glue, glitter, and get creative with different arts and crafts at Kempston Library. Plus, children can have a go playing family board games.
