As the festive season approaches, Bedford Borough Council is reminding residents not to be caught out by bin collection changes this Christmas. 

Alderman Derek Jones, former councillor and Mayor of Bedford, has died.

Derek Jones was a Labour Bedford Borough Councillor for Queens Park, and then Kingsbrook, from 1983 to 2006. 

He was also the ceremonial Mayor of Bedford in both 1993 and 1994.
