Bring some beachside joy to young children during the summer holidays at Bedford Beach Week.

The fantastic outdoor sandpit experience is back this month at Silver Square, Silver Street from Tuesday (11 August) to Sunday (16 August), from 10am–4pm.

There will also be SEND inclusive hour from 10-11am each day.

The fun-filled beach event offers a safe area for youngsters to dig, build sandcastles and play in real sand, right in the heart of the town centre.

Bedford Borough Council is providing some buckets and spades, but kids are welcome to bring their own too.

Grown-ups can grab a coffee from one of the amazing cafes on Silver Square or in town and soak up some beach vibes – and all without the traffic jams to the coast.

Beachgoers can also pop into What's On Bedford Borough Visitor Information Centre at 50 Silver Street where children can colour in a beach-themed masterpiece, and parents and carergivers can find out what’s happening across the Borough for families this summer.

This August, kids aged 5-15 can travel for free on Grant Palmer, Stagecoach and Uno buses across the Borough and surrounding areas, so families can travel to Bedford Beach Week without costing a penny for children 15 years and under.

Cllr Andrea Spice, Portfolio Holder for Economic Prosperity, Planning, Housing and Regulatory Services said; “Bedford Beach Week is back – and is perfect for families who want to enjoy some fun in the sand for free.”

Cllr Jane Walker, Portfolio Holder for Valuing Families: Children’s Services added; “This wonderful event combines safe outdoor fun with community spirit. Don’t miss out on this family-friendly experience in our brilliant town centre.”
