  • Still time to register to vote for upcoming elections


    To vote in next month’s important Bedfordshire Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) election, residents must register to vote by midnight tonight, April 19.

    During this first week of shops, pubs, restaurants and hairdressers reopening, Bedford Borough Council has been working to support local businesses and keep our communities safe.

  • Bedford Borough Libraries Reopening Starts from Monday 12 April

    From Monday 12 April, Bedford Borough Libraries will begin to reopen on a phased basis in line with the “next step” of the Government’s COVID-19 roadmap out of lockdown.

    Bedford Central and Kempston libraries will open from 12th April 2021, with Putnoe Library opening from 19th April 2021.   • Council urges residents to get twice weekly rapid ‘no symptom’ tests

    From Friday 9 April, everyone who lives or works in Bedford Borough and is over the age of 18 will be able to get a free rapid Covid-19 test twice a week.

    One in three people who test positive for Covid-19 show no symptoms and could be transmitting the virus unknowingly. Rapid testing will help to break the chain of transmission by enabling those who test positive to self-isolate.
