Following the success of the first Climate Fresk community workshop held on Earth Day, Bedford Borough Council is announcing a second session, this time delivered online, to make it even more accessible for residents and those working in the borough.
The first workshop, delivered in partnership with Climate Clarity and funded by the National Lottery Awards for All England, brought together a diverse group of participants, including representatives from the NHS, council officers, school governors, faith and community leaders, and members of the voluntary sector. Attendees explored the science behind climate change through interactive activities, gaining practical tools and inspiration to support sustainability in their communities. Several participants have since taken steps toward becoming certified Climate Fresk facilitators, extending the reach of climate action across Bedford Borough.
The upcoming online session will take place on Wednesday 2 July 2025, 6-9pm via Zoom. The event is free and open to anyone living or working in Bedford Borough, with a particular focus on those in public service, education, volunteering, or community roles. No prior experience is necessary—just a willingness to learn and share ideas.
Portfolio Holder for Environment, Councillor Nicola Gribble, said, “Building on the enthusiasm and positive feedback from our first Climate Fresk workshop, we are excited to offer this second, online session. It’s a fantastic opportunity for more people across Bedford Borough to come together, learn about climate science, and feel empowered to make a difference in their communities.”
A participant from Brickhill Primary School who attended the Earth Day workshop shared, “It was insightful and interesting to attend. I love the fact that it was open to everyone.”
