  • Last Chance for Christmas Support Grants for Wet-Led Pubs

    Sunday 31 January is the deadline for pubs to apply for a Christmas Support Grant.

    The grant is worth £1,000 and is for any pubs where the income from food sales is normally less than 50% of the pub’s income.

    This grant is funded by the Government and administered locally by Bedford Borough Council.

    It is a one-off payment, on top of other support grants for businesses that have had to close or been adversely impacted by COVID-19 restrictions.

  • Gritting Overnight with Widespread Frost Expected

    With continuing below freezing conditions and a widespread frost expected, Bedford Borough Council is advising drivers not to travel tomorrow morning (Tuesday 26 January) unless it is vital, with gritting continuing overnight.

  • Bin Collections Suspended on Monday Due to Snow

    Bedford Borough experienced heavy snow over the weekend, and below zero temperatures overnight and into this morning have seen potentially treacherous driving conditions.

  • Bedford Borough Reaches Over 10,000 COVID-19 Cases

    Bedford Borough has had over 10,000 positive cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.

    According to Government data, there have now been 10,595 positive cases of COVID-19 in Bedford Borough*, which equates to around 1 in 16 people having tested positive for the virus.   

    The new variant of COVID-19 is spreading fast and it’s been estimated that one in three people who have the virus do not display any symptoms.
