    This weekend Bedford’s oldest publically owned swimming pool ‘Robinson Pools & Fitness’ celebrated 50 years since it first opened in Bedford Park.

  • ‘Somewhere Safe to Stay’ in the Heart of Bedford Town Centre

    As part of the strategy to tackle rough sleeping, Bedford Borough Council has extended services for people sleeping rough with the opening of an ‘Assessment & Somewhere Safe to Stay’ Hub, in the heart of Bedford town centre.

  • Council Offers Advice for People Buying a New Furry Friend

    A new furry friend can make a great addition to the family, but Bedford Borough Council is warning local residents to be cautious and carry out checks after reports of illegal puppy trading.

    Bad dealers and breeders are selling puppies that are too young, imported from other countries, haven’t had the appropriate vaccinations, and without the right paperwork. This can result in the puppies being quarantined and not allowed to go to their new owners.

  • Bedford Borough Council Joins Refill Bedford

    Bedford Borough Council has signed up as a Refill Station, joining Refill Bedford creating a network of local places where people can go fill up their reusable water bottle for free.

    ‘Refill’ is a nationwide campaign working to connect people with thousands of local businesses, community venues, transport hubs and public fountains where they can refill for free. They have launched a free ‘Refill App’ where anyone can find Refill Stations where they can refill on the go.

  • The One Show are coming to Bedford for Children In Need

    The One Show will be stopping off in Bedford as the team travels across the UK for this year’s Rickshaw Challenge for Children in Need.

    A team of six young people, all of whom have been supported by BBC Children in Need-funded projects, will be joined by The One Show’s Matt Baker on the eight-day challenge as they take on a 400 mile route, starting in Holyhead in Anglesey, Wales on Friday 8 November.

    It is National Adoption Week, 14 - 20 October and Bedford Borough Council is urging adoptive families to come forward in an effort to provide homes for children.
