Hedges, shrubs and flower beds

We are not responsible for maintaining hedges, shrubs or flowerbeds on any privately-owned land (including land owned by housing associations such as bpha), or developments not yet adopted by us. Please report issues with hedges, shrubs and flowerbeds on private land direct to the owners.

Hedge cutting

Summer maintenance: To prevent disturbing any nesting birds we use hand tools between March and September and will only cut hedges if they are causing an obstruction or preventing visibility.

Winter maintenance: Between September and February we will prune hedges more thoroughly and re-shape them using mechanical machinery or hand tools.

If we've missed an area of untidy hedges

If you notice untidy hedges in our parks or public spaces, it's likely we are due to cut them soon. However, if you think that they may have been missed, please report it using the form below.

Report untidy hedges

Please do not use this form if you are experiencing issues with your neighbour regarding high hedges, please see our high hedge complaints page instead.

Shrub and flower bed maintenance

As part of our winter maintenance we prune shrub and flower borders between September and February. Some lighter pruning is done only if needed (between March and September).
