Activities for adults

We offer a range of sporting activities for adults. This enables you to increase your fitness and enjoy the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.

Active Adults - September 2019

The September 2019 programme will be starting 23 September 2019.

Active Adults is a sports programme aimed at over 35 year olds. It is ideal if you want to try a particular activity or have a go at something new. It is also for you if you tried a sport before and want to return to it in a relaxed, informal environment with other like-minded people.

All sessions are held at local venues situated within the Borough. The sessions are run for adults, by experienced and qualified coaches. All required equipment will be provided.

If you like the sport and want to continue with it after the course has finished, we will give you information to help you to do so.

The current programme starts week commencing Monday 23 September 2019:

  • All courses run for 8 weeks
  • All courses start week commencing 23 September 2019, unless stated below

Courses may be cancelled if numbers are low. You will be notified a minimum of seven days before the start date and offered an alternative or a full refund.

To book and pay online please register and set up an account with Bedford Borough Council. Having an account will open up more ways to communicate with the Council and allow you access to other services. It will also speed up the process of booking and paying for your course.

Over 70s - Gentle exercise classes and activities 

A range of exercise classes for the over 70s, including different sports sessions, table tennis, chair-based pilates and yoga, chair dance yoga, line dancing, stretch and balance and movement to music.

Classes are every Monday and Thursday at Bedford Central Library, Tuesdays at John Bunyan Sports and Fitness and Wednesdays at Bedford International Athletic Stadium.

No booking required. £4 fee includes tea/coffee after the session.

Wear comfortable clothing and footwear, and bring a drink.

All other equipment will be provided.
