Street care and cleaning

The provision of a street cleansing service is a statutory requirement which relates to the cleansing of the Borough's public highways to meet statutory standards of cleanliness. These standards are found under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 Code of Practice on Litter and Refuse (revised in July 1990) which determines the national standards of cleanliness that has to be achieved by Local Authorities on all their adopted streets, roads, passageways, thoroughfares, footpaths, and public areas.
