  • Delay to Start of Fishing Season at Priory Country Park Main Lake

    Following the sighting of an unusually large number of dead fish at Priory Country Park lake and investigation by the Environment Agency, it has been decided that the start of the fishing season needs to be delayed for the main lake only this year until at least 1st July 2021.  All other areas of the ticketed fishery remain open, map boards are around the site showing the areas that remain open.

    For the past few weeks surge testing has been taking place in the Cauldwell, Kingsbrook and Queens Park areas of Bedford Borough, to identify as many positive cases as possible and break chains of transmission.

    Today it has been announced that Bedford Borough will receive £22.6 million, following a successful bid for a Town Deal.

    In October 2020, the Borough council and Bedford Town Deal Board submitted their Town Investment Plan as part of their bid for up to £25million from Central Government.     A new bike storage shelter has now opened in Bedford town centre, near Harpur Square enhancing the bike racks that are currently there.
