Do you know a local sporting or physical activity hero? Nominations now open for Bedford Sports and Physical Activity Awards 2025!
The Sports Development team at Bedford Borough Council is thrilled to announce that nominations are now open for the prestigious Bedford Sports & Physical Activity Awards 2025. The council invites all residents to recognise and celebrate the outstanding individuals, coaches, clubs, volunteers, and schools who contribute to making Bedford Borough’s sporting and physical activity community so vibrant and inspiring.
Councillor Sarah Gallagher, Portfolio Holder for Customer Experience, Leisure and Culture, said, “These awards are a wonderful opportunity to honour the dedication, skill, and success of those who make sport and physical activity such an important part of life in Bedford Borough. From elite athletes to community volunteers, these awards shine a spotlight on the people and groups who help our local sporting community thrive. I encourage everyone to submit nominations and help us celebrate these incredible achievements.”
The 2025 awards feature 14 exciting categories, offering something for everyone involved in sport and physical activity across the Borough:
- Adult Personality of the Year (sponsored by Jewson Partnership Solutions)
- Junior Personality of the Year (sponsored by Rotary Club of Bedford Park)
- Adult Disability Sports Personality of the Year (sponsored by Manor Hospital, part of Circle Health Group)
- Junior Disability Sports Personality of the Year (sponsored by Gale Family Charity Trust)
- Club of the Year (sponsored by Be Active)
- Community Person Award (sponsored by Bedford Sports Foundation)
- Community Club / Group Award (sponsored by Better, Bedford Leisure Facilities)
- Primary School of the Year (sponsored by Times Tables Rock Stars)
- Secondary School of the Year (sponsored by Youth TV)
- Team of the Year (sponsored by University of Bedfordshire)
- Coach of the Year (sponsored by The Bedford College Group)
- Unsung Hero (sponsored by Harpur Trust)
- Young Volunteer of the Year (sponsored by Bedford Physical Education Old Students’ Association)

The deadline for all nominations is Tuesday, 18 November 2025, at 5pm. Don’t miss the chance to celebrate your local sporting heroes by submitting a nomination before the deadline.
The Bedford Sports & Physical Activity Awards Ceremony will take place on Monday, 8 December 2025, at the Bedford Corn Exchange. All nominees will be invited to celebrate the achievements and successes of our sporting community at this memorable event.
