Bedford Borough Council’s Sports Development team is excited to announce that the much-loved Bedford Junior Aquathlon will return on Sunday 12 October 2025. Open to children from school years 3 through 11, this inclusive event combines swimming and a run over varying distances, tailored to each age group, providing a fun and challenging opportunity for young athletes to compete in a safe and supportive environment. The swimming is held in Robinson Pools & Fitness, and the running is through Bedford Park.
Following the highly successful March event, which welcomed 173 participants, the Sports Development team has listened carefully to positive feedback from families, with many praising the easy registration, clear communication, and friendly atmosphere. Parents highlighted the event’s organisation and the confidence it built in their children, with one parent stating, “This was the first time my daughters had attended anything like this, and it was an excellent event. It was well organised and everyone was friendly and supportive. The detailed information sent beforehand was very clear and helpful for an anxious child that wanted to know exactly what was going to happen!
“She is really proud of herself for taking part and doing an amazing job, and this has given her lots of confidence for the future.”
Due to increased popularity and to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all participants, a cap of 200 entrants has been set this year. Once this limit is reached or by the booking deadline - Tuesday 30 September at 5pm - registrations will close. Entries will not be accepted on the day.
