SHOUT is a group especially to hear your voice, opinions, views, and ideas to help us make sure that Bedford Borough Council is doing the best we can to support you and other children and young people.

This youth club is for children and young people in care, care leavers on a Child Protection or Child in Need plan, adopted, have a special guardianship order, supported by the children with disabilities team and Kids Who Share (the birth children of foster carers).

We have two groups; one for children aged 8-12 and one for young people aged 13-17. Each group meets once per month on a Wednesday from 5pm-7pm. We also have an online option for those children who are 12+ and live outside of Bedford Borough.

What will you do / how will it work

At SHOUT, you will have the chance to meet other children and young people in a similar situation to you, learn new skills, take part in fun activities, and have the chance to meet some of Children’s Services’ managers to ask questions. SHOUT is at a local Youth Centre, and we play lots of games, cook meals, play sports, do lots of activities, and go on trips, visits and residential stays.

Sharing your experiences and views makes a huge difference; not just for you but to the lives of other children and young people.

SHOUT ‘OUT’

You may be living away from Bedford Borough, but having your voice heard is still really important! It might be hard for you to come to our sessions, but there are still lots of ways you can get involved!

For looked after children and young people aged 12+ living outside of Bedford Borough, there are a range of ways you can stay in touch.

Each month, we will ask you to give your views and opinions on a different topic. How you give those views, is up to you:

  • You can get in touch by email.
  • We can book a phone or video call.
  • We can text or WhatsApp.
  • We can send you a link for an online survey.
  • We can go old school and write letters.

This is a chance for you to share your views and help to make a difference for yourself and the other children and young people like you!
