We want you to have your say on the issues that are important to you and the support you receive as well as how we can keep developing the work we do and the support we offer care experienced young people.
Alongside your Social Worker or Personal Advisers, there are many ways to share your views.
Engagement and Development Team
We are here to help you share your voice, views, wishes, feelings and experiences to make sure our services are working in the best way possible. We support lots of different groups for children in our care and care experienced young people.
We also run lots of fun activities in the school and college holidays. As well as telling us about the issues that are most important to you, you will get a chance to meet managers and decision makers. You will receive letters from us with details of sessions.
Email voice@bedford.gov.uk to find out more.
Independent advocacy
An advocate is someone who can help you to get your views across and supports you to have your say when decisions are being made about you.
An advocate can give you information about your rights, help you have your say at meetings, speak on your behalf when decisions are being made or help you to make a complaint if you are not happy with the service or support you receive.
Your advocate is independent (separate) from Bedford Borough Council and works for you and only you. Your Social Worker or Personal Advisers can make a referral for advocacy support or you can contact them on the details below.
If you are over 18, POhWER provides advocacy support. Tel: 0300 456 2370.
Access to records
You have a right to see the information we hold about you, this includes the files and records written whilst you are or were in our care.
If the 16+ Supporting Futures Team are still supporting you, you will need to speak with your Social Worker or Personal Advisers for access to your records.
Please write to Access to (Closed) Social Care Records, Fifth Floor Borough Hall, Cauldwell Street, Bedford, MK42 9AP.
