Bedford Borough JSNA

The Bedford Borough Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) is a local assessment of current and future health and social care needs.

Working together with the Bedfordshire Luton and Milton Keynes Integrated Care Board (BLMK ICB) the Council has a duty to improve the health of the local population.

The JSNA is used by the Health and Wellbeing Board and its member organisations to assess the health and care needs of the local population and develop plans to address those needs. This includes developing a Joint Local Health and Wellbeing Strategy (PDF) and informing the BLMK Integrated Care System Strategy.

To produce the JSNA, we use data and information from a range of sources, including data from hospitals and GPs, routinely collected data on a wide range of factors that influence our health, feedback from professionals and residents, and ‘best practice’ evidence.

The JSNA includes a number of chapters, each dealing with a several topic across the life course (from conception through to old age). The JSNA chapters are concise summaries that include interactive visual ways of exploring the data. Users can explore a topic in more detail by selecting it and accessing a range of further data resources and reports, including ‘deep dive’ health needs assessments.

Refreshing the JSNA is a continuous process and the content is updated regularly, depending on when new information becomes available and in response to the feedback we receive.

We would welcome your feedback and suggestions for the JSNA. Please contact us at: jsnafeedback@bedford.gov.uk.
