Occupational Therapy

If you need practical support and help with your ability to do everyday tasks, then occupational therapy may be able to help.

Our team of Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy Assistants can advise and assess your needs.

Come and have a look at our equipment demonstration area, located in the Centre for Independent Living, 21-23 Gadsby Street, Bedford.

How to get occupational therapy help

You can call us on 01234 718006.

After an initial assessment over the phone, we will arrange to visit you in your home to find out what your needs are through a Specialist Occupational Therapy Assessment.

Following our assessment we may be able to provide you with:

  • equipment to promote your safety and independence, for example, a raised toilet seat or trolley
  • minor adaptations to your home, for example, grab rails or stair rails
  • guidance or advice on how you can adapt your lifestyle to make your life easier
  • information regarding voluntary agencies that may be able to provide you or your carer with support

Where appropriate, we may recommend major adaptations to your property through the Disabled Facilities Grants.

We work closely with local hospitals, housing, social care colleagues and the voluntary sector.
