Rural bulky waste - dates and locations suspended until further notice

The rural bulky collection service has been disrupted during 2021 due to Covid regulations and a shortage of HGV drivers. The Council has been prioritising the regular collection of bins during this time.

We are keeping this service under review and will look to restart it as soon as resources are available.

In the meantime, the Household Waste Recycling Centre on Barkers Lane is open for residents 7 days a week. Alternatively, the bulky waste collection service is also available for a small fee (see above).

The Household Waste and Recycling Centre (HWRC) at Barkers Lane, Bedford will accept a range of items as well as general domestic rubbish. For further information on the HWRC please visit our waste recycling centre page.

This service is provided for domestic waste only. It is illegal to dispose of business waste via this service. Anyone observed disposing of business waste will be reported and may be prosecuted.
