Rural bulky waste - dates and locations suspended until further notice
It is with regret we are having to postpone the start of the rural bulky collection service for 2021.
With the ongoing uncertainty about how long social distancing measures will have to be in place and the impact of the pandemic on the Council’s resources, this decision has not been taken lightly by the Council.
We know this is disappointing news, but the safety of the public and our own staff is our number one priority. As we move through the year, and more people are vaccinated, hopefully restrictions can be eased.
We will keep this service under review so when restrictions allow and we can deliver this service safely, we will look to do so. In the meantime, the Household Waste Recycling Centre on Barkers Lane is open for residents 7 days a week with a simple online booking system.
Alternatively, the bulky waste collection service is also available for a small fee (see above).
The Household Waste and Recycling Centre (HWRC) at Barkers Lane, Bedford will accept a range of items as well as general domestic rubbish. For further information on the HWRC please visit our waste recycling centre page.
This service is provided for domestic waste only. It is illegal to dispose of business waste via this service. Anyone observed disposing of business waste will be reported and may be prosecuted.
