    Local Election Day is Thursday 2nd May, when elections will be held for the Mayor of Bedford Borough, Borough Councillors, and Parish and Town Councillors where areas have parish/town councils that are contested (ie. more candidates than seats on the Council).

  • Parking Meter Cash Thefts in Bedford

    Thieves have broken into a number of parking meters in the Ampthill Road area stealing hundreds of pounds in recent weeks.

    The crooks drilled holes into the meters in the early hours of the morning and emptied the cash boxes and caused significant damage resulting in the meters being out of action.

    Many such crimes have taken place across the Borough recently and have cost the taxpayer huge sums in lost revenue and repairing the damaged machines.

  • ‘She Wants To, She Can Do!’

    A weekend of free sports and activity programmes for women and girls comes to Bedford this weekend.

    John Bunyan Sport and Fitness, Bedford International Athletic Stadium, Bedford Park, and Central Library will all be hosting sports and activity sessions from Friday 26th April to Sunday 28th April.

    Activities including walking netball and football, cheer leading, spin class, yoga, and even a tug of war.

  • Works Begin On Manton Lane

    Improvement works are set to begin on Manton Lane, as part of Transporting Bedford 2020; a £18 million project to cut traffic congestion and improve journeys across the town.

    The latest phase involves the work on Manton Lane and from 23rd April, works will start to:

    • Make improvements to the operation of the existing traffic signals at the junction of Brickhill Drive/Manton Lane

    Children from schools across four areas will be attending performances of THE WISH where they’ll get a chance to meet a composer and take part in the concert whilst listening to professional orchestra SINFONIA VERDI.

    On Thursday 2 May this year, local elections are taking place in Bedford Borough.
