Since I started in Bedford, I have consistently felt that the senior management team go the extra mile to get to know all of their social workers. They have really boosted my confidence and made me feel like a valued member of the Bedford Borough team.
I was supported by BBC to go from working as an agency social worker to a permanent experienced social worker and I’m now an advanced practitioner. I feel like I’m always encouraged to try new things and various roles within Bedford Borough to support with my professional development and I have always been encouraged to prioritise my learning and development.
Caseloads are manageable and when they have increased for a period of time, I have been supported through good supervision and flexibility with my working hours.
Every manager that I’ve had since starting with Bedford in 2018 has been supportive, flexible, realistic and encouraging and they have all provided me with good, regular and reflective supervision. Bedford Borough Council is a great place to work for those who like to feel valued, supported and have a work-life balance. It’s also an extremely good local authority if you want to progress in your career.
