Local government pension scheme
We offer employees a generous contributory pension scheme which is a career average salary local government pension scheme (LGPS).
The LGPS protects you and your dependants with a range of benefits. It’s a guaranteed and inflation-proofed pension based on your pay in each year that you pay into the scheme.
You can choose to pay more or less into your pension while getting tax relief on all your contributions. You can receive redundancy cover from age 55, a death in service lump sum of three times pensionable pay and an ill-health pension from any age.
AVC scheme
We offer LGPS members access to a salary sacrifice shared cost Additional Voluntary Contribution (AVC) scheme by way of a tax-free deduction through payroll. It provides a cost-efficient way to increase your retirement savings alongside your LGPS pension by saving on National Insurance contributions in addition to tax savings.

You will receive a cost of living award "pay rise" each year which are nationally agreed.
Relocation scheme

If you become ill you will be protected through our occupational sick pay scheme which can provide up to six months’ full pay and six months’ half pay after five years' local government service.
