Generous annual leave
We offer a minimum of 27 days' annual leave, rising to 32 days after five years' local government service. This is exclusive of bank holidays.

Our employees' health and wellbeing is vital to us. The Council's in-house Occupational Health and Wellbeing Service offers rapid and easily accessible support which includes medical referrals, health screening, work place assessments, specialised health checks and health promotions.

This programme offers free, confidential counselling and a wide range of information and support on work, family and personal issues to you and your family.
Health Cash Plan
Our Health Cash Plan offers discounted premiums and cash back on healthcare costs such as optical, dental, physiotherapy. An extensive rewards scheme is also included to give you access to a range of discounts from various retailers.
Sports Therapy and Exercise Clinic
All employees have access to the University of Bedfordshire’s Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation Clinic. This may include a free consultation and massage therapy treatment to aid recovery from a sporting injury / other muscular condition.
Wellbeing champions and events

Our Employee Wellbeing Champions are trained in mental health and wellbeing. They also run wellbeing events which have previously involved therapies such as meditation and massage.

Our Public Health team offer free annual flu jabs to front-line employees.
Eye tests
Eye test vouchers are available via our Occupational Health team for eligible employees.
Menopause support
Our Menopause Network provides a safe and supportive space for staff experiencing perimenopause, menopause, and post-menopause, including transgender and non-binary individuals who are biologically experiencing menopause. Find out more on our staff network page.
