Our Customer Services team will make an appointment for you with a Housing Advice and Assessment Officer. At this assessment, the officer will interview you to check what support you are entitled to. This officer will also decide whether the council has a duty to provide you with temporary accommodation.

The assessment will take place at our Bedford Borough Hub, 2 Horne Lane, Bedford, MK40 1RA.

What happens next?

If the officer is satisfied that you are eligible and homeless, they will make you a second appointment for a full assessment. You will be asked questions about yourself, your family, your address history, your housing and support needs, and why you became homeless.

We ask these questions to see how best to help you and agree a plan with you – this is called your Personal Housing Plan.

You will be given a copy of your Personal Housing Plan, and your housing officer will support you to find a place to live.
