When you ask us for help due to homelessness, we will complete an assessment which considers your circumstances, housing needs and options.
Temporary accommodation placements
Following the assessment, we may offer you a temporary accommodation placement if we have reason to believe that you:
- are homeless
- are eligible for support
- have a priority need
- have no alternative accommodation arrangements
Types of temporary accommodation
Temporary accommodation supply is very limited. It may include accommodation in hotels, flats, or houses in Bedford Borough or further afield.
We cannot guarantee that you will be placed close to work, schools or support networks, but we will do our best to find you suitable accommodation that meets your needs.
You will only be offered one suitable placement.
Paying for temporary accommodation
You will be charged for your stay in temporary accommodation.
If you need financial assistance, we can help you apply for housing benefit.
As with any rental accommodation, you will have to pay for any damage to the property.
Terms and conditions
You must sign a license agreement to agree to the terms and conditions of the temporary accommodation placement you are offered.
The terms and conditions relate to behaviour and taking care of the accommodation. If you fail to follow these rules, you risk losing your temporary accommodation and we may not offer you an alternative placement.
