Anti-social behaviour (ASB) covers a wide range of unacceptable activity that causes harm to individuals, their communities or environment.
Examples include:
- vandalism, graffiti and fly-posting
- drinking alcohol in a public place
- littering, dumping of rubbish (fly-tipping) and abandonment of cars
- begging and vagrancy
- fireworks misuse
- inconsiderate or inappropriate use of vehicles
- intimidating gatherings of young people
- uncontrolled animals
- noise nuisance

Contacting the Police
Call the Police if the offender:
- is violent, threatening or abusive
- is harassing you
Call 999 if you or someone else is in immediate danger, or if you think there is a crime in progress.
Call 101 to contact the Police if the incident is not an emergency.
You can also report it to the Police online.
Neighbourhood Watch
Neighbourhood Watch is one of the most effective crime reduction initiatives in the UK and is recognised by the Council, the Police and the Fire and Rescue Service.
No cold calling zone
Bedford Borough is a designated no cold calling zone (NCCZ). A NCCZ does not ban cold callers or create an exclusion zone, but it can help to deter bogus traders and empower residents to to say “No”.
