Food waste caddies - food waste collections

Food waste collections will start across Bedford Borough on Monday 30 March 2026.

In preparation, we are delivering food waste caddies to all residents in Bedford Borough between January and April 2026.

Most households will receive a small 7 litre kitchen caddy and a larger 23 litre outdoor food bin. Flats with communal food waste collections will only receive the smaller kitchen caddy.

We are working hard to ensure everyone gets their caddies, but if your neighbours have received one and you haven’t, you can use the online form to let us know.

Remember, we are delivering right up to April 2026, so please bear with us and only report a missing food waste caddy if you have:

  • checked that all your neighbours have received theirs
  • checked the front, side, and back of your property to be sure that the caddy has not been delivered

Please use the form below to report a missing or damaged food caddy.

By submitting the form you confirm that you have read and understood how we process your personal data.

If your bin is missing

If your bin is missing after your collection, we recommend that you wait 72 hours before reporting it.

Please check with your neighbours to see if they have moved / taken your bin by mistake.

If you can't find the bin then a replacement can be ordered, but charges will apply. The charges are to cover the administration, supply and delivery of the replacement bin. There are no concessions offered.

Bins remain the property of Bedford Borough Council and must remain at the property to which they have been issued.

It’s a good idea to mark your bins with your property name or number to help you identify them.
