We understand that it's frustrating if your bin isn't collected. Our waste collection crews work really hard to collect all bins on time but if your bin is missed, find out what you can do about it on this page.

Criteria for reporting a missed bin

You can only report a missed bin collection if all of the five statements below are true:

  • I live in Bedford Borough. Go to GOV.UK Find your local Council if you are unsure which Council area your address is in.
  • I left my bin out in the correct place on the correct day by 6am.
  • I am reporting the missed bin within 2 working days of the original collection day.
  • My bin was not overloaded / too heavy and only contained the right type of waste. See our waste and recycling policy (PDF). This policy is being updated to due to recent changes to collections.
  • My orange lidded recycling bin only contained recyclable items. Check what items can be recycled here.

Unless all of these apply, you will not be able to report it as a missed bin collection. You will need to wait until your next scheduled collection or take your waste to the Household Waste Recycling Centre on Barkers Lane, Bedford.

How the online reporting tool works

  • Choose the previous collection you wish to report by selecting ‘Report missed bin’ and follow the instructions.

If the criteria is met, we will return within the next two working days from when you report it..
