The Better Housing Better Health team is offering support to local residents to keep warm and well at home, improve the energy efficiency of their homes and save money on their energy bills.
Better Housing Better Health can provide residents with impartial expert advice over the telephone. Depending on your circumstances, a warm and well assessment can offer:
- information about grants or support services that are available
- energy saving advice
- access to the priority service register
- access to emergency fuel vouchers
- small measures such as draft excluders.
Home energy assessment visit
If someone in your household meets one or more of the criteria below, you may be eligible for a home energy assessment visit.
This can include:
- an initial assessment of your property's energy efficiency and identification of areas for improvement
- advice and support for energy-saving measures, such as insulation and draught-proofing
- information on available grants and funding to help with the cost of energy-saving improvements
- guidance on how to switch to a cheaper energy supplier
- advice on staying warm and well during the winter months.
Eligibility criteria
Households that qualify for a home energy assessment visit are:
- low income households
- households in receipt of benefits where a resident also has a health condition that is adversely affected by the cold or damp
- households where there is a resident with a disability
