Every three years, a Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA) is completed. The next one for Bedford Borough is due to be published by 1 October 2025.
The PNA will look at what pharmacy services each area has, where they are located and what pharmacy services might be needed in the future.
It is important to gather views of residents in order to better understand how residents access pharmacy services in the local area.

There will be further opportunities for residents to comment on the Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment during a consultation period in Spring 2025.
What happens next
The findings from this survey will be reviewed by Bedford Borough, Central Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes City Council shared Public Health Team and North of England Commissioning Support Unit (NECS).
The findings from this survey will then be incorporated into the Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA) which will then go out for consultation for 60 days in 2025.
The PNA will be used to identify any gaps in current pharmaceutical services and will be used by partners to review future applications from pharmacies.
