Windrush Compensation Scheme

The Windrush Compensation Scheme was launched in April 2019 to ensure that affected members of the Windrush generation receive payments for the impact on their lives.

You may be able to claim compensation if you suffered losses because you could not show that you had a right to live in the UK.

‘Losses’ can be things like not being able to work, find a place to live or get health treatment. They can also include immigration action, like detention or removal from the UK.

Citizens Advice Bedford are able to provide assistance with the completion of Windrush compensation scheme forms. Their team of qualified advisers are able to discuss your situation, advise and assist with collating any supporting evidence and complete the compensation form with you.

Contact the Windrush helpline

You will need to explain you wish to make a claim for compensation and the Home Office will then refer you to Citizens Advice Bedford. One of their advisers will then make contact with you directly to arrange a convenient time for an appointment to provide advice and assistance on your issue.
