Help for families

If you and your family need help and support we can offer a range of services. Some are broad and general, while others are specialised, targeted support.

Family Information Service provides free and confidential information and advice to help you in your family life. Find childcare, children's activities, sport and leisure services, family support groups or services for children with a disability.

Early help means providing support as soon as possible to help families cope with difficulties and working together with other services to prevent bigger problems emerging. Specific types of support are on offer:

  • Family Focus is as voluntary service for families who want to make positive changes in their lives.
  • Education Support provides careers education, information, advice and guidance to young people aged 16-19, or up to 25 for those with special educational needs.
  • RELAY Scheme is a school notification service where incidents of domestic abuse have been reported in the previous 24 hours to Bedfordshire Police from households where children reside.

Inclusion support provide support to pupils, and their families, who are at risk of permanent exclusion from school, or have been permanently excluded.

The Family Drug and Alcohol Court (FDAC) helps families where children are put at risk by parental substance misuse. It is a new alternative to care proceedings.
