Centre for Independent Living

The Centre for Independent Living is a day service to support adults with learning disabilities.

We offer opportunities for people to gain a more independent lifestyle. This is done through activities and by accessing services in and around the town of Bedford.

The staff team consists of Senior Day Care Officers, Day Care Officers and Community Facilitators.

The Centre for Independent Living is a base close to the town centre of Bedford and is accessible from Bedford bus station.

Our aims

The service aims to help people develop independent living skills in order to have the same access to the local community as all other citizens.

This will be achieved by supporting people who would like to:

  • become more independent
  • gain work experience
  • take part in community projects
  • work towards employment where possible

Services offered

It gives individuals supported by Adult Services the opportunity to make greater use of the facilities in and around the town. For example:

  • leisure
  • sport
  • social
  • public transport
  • community enterprise projects.

We are currently open from Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4pm and we are looking for further opportunities to extend these in the future.

The service is closed on Bank Holidays.
