Our aim is to find loving families for children. But there are few factors that will automatically rule you out as an adopter.
The key is to be totally honest in your application so that all circumstances can be considered in context.
You can be:
- single
- married
- from the LGBTQIA+ community
- from any ethnic background, culture or religion
- without or without birth children
- renting your home.
You must be:
- over 21 but there is no upper age limit.

What skills are needed
Some experience in childcare would be useful, although not essential.
If you go ahead with the assessment process, you may discover that you have plenty of skills and experience that will be beneficial as an adoptive carer.
We do ask that you are able to offer:
- patience
- flexibility
- empathy
- stability
- support and encouragement
- strong communication skills
- a sense of humour and resilience
- a commitment to developing new skills and knowledge.
