Level 3 Award in Preparing to Work in Home Based Childcare

This qualification, developed in collaboration with the Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years, prepares learners to set up a home-based childcare setting as a registered childminder, nanny or Au pair.

Mandatory unit:

• Legislation and regulation relating to home based childcare
• safeguarding and child protection alongside promoting equality, diversity and inclusion
• Health and safety in a home based childcare environment and working in partnership
• Day-to-day care routines for children, children’s learning and development, play and role of observation

Childminding route:

• Leading and managing a home based childcare setting, financial and taxation requirements when setting up a home based childcare setting
• Creating a business plan, registration requirements for home based child carers

Nanny or Au Pair route:

• Expectations required of the role, partnership working the role of advisor
• Guidance and support services, how to plan steps to become a Nanny
