We’re celebrating the final month of Bedford Borough’s Year of Reading with our very own Jolabokaflod!

Starting at the Bedford Christmas Tree Festival at St Paul’s Church on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 December, look out for donated wrapped books being re-gifted around Bedford Borough, thanks to the Book Fairies. Books will appear at other themed locations around Bedford Borough for the rest of the week.

The festive fun continues the following weekend on Saturday 13 December at Bedford Central Library, with some very special guests.

At 10.30am the Mayor of Bedford Borough will be reading a picture book, followed by David Litchfield at 11am who will be sharing some of his wonderful picture books and a quick drawing workshop. He'll then be joined by a piano playing bear who will lead families in a singalong.

At 3.15pm staff will read some festive stories in the children’s library, with a very special (jolly) guest!

Events are free and there's no need to book.

We are still keen to hear from you with your ideas, so if you have suggestions for activities or events you would like to see as part of our Year of Reading in 2025 then please contact us at yearofreading@bedford.gov.uk
