The Statement of Community Involvement (PDF) (adopted in January 2025) sets out how and when local communities and stakeholders such as residents, community groups, businesses, statutory bodies can get involved in:
- the preparation of planning policy documents, such as local plans and neighbourhood plans
and
- the assessment and determination of planning applications, such as housing and commercial developments.
Details about future public consultations on planning policy documents will be published on our new online planning consultation portal which will be available in Summer 2026.
If you wish to make comments on a planning policy document, you will need to register your details on the new consultation portal. You will be able to read and download the consultation documents and view the comments from other interested parties without having to register or log onto the portal.
Updates on the emerging local plan and other planning policy documents will be publicised on our news pages throughout 2026.
