Bedford Stations Travel Plan

The Bedford Stations Travel Plan encourages train users to travel sustainably to and from Bedford’s two rail stations. Fewer people using their cars around the busy station entrances will ease congestion, reduce carbon emissions and improve air quality in the town.

The Travel Plan has been developed by Bedford Borough Council in association with the Station Travel Plan Steering Group. It has four objectives:

  • To increase walking to and from both stations particularly for short journeys.
  • To increase cycling to and from both stations particularly on short or medium journeys.
  • To increase the use of public transport to and from both stations.
  • To manage car and motorcycling use at both stations.

The Steering Group brings transport users and operators together to discuss the issues at the station and how they can be resolved. The Travel Plan itself was launched on 15 March 2011 and is reviewed annually. Download a copy of the Bedford Stations Travel Plan (PDF).
