Permit scheme
If you intend to carry out works on the road, you must apply for a permit scheme. Contact streetworks@bedford.gov.uk for advice or immediate works you're undertaking.
Permit schemes are a better way to manage works carried out on the road. They minimise disruption from unnecessary or badly controlled roadworks.
Other benefits:
- improves journey times and reliability for all our road users
- reduces the congestion caused by roadworks
- improves the information available on works, including advanced warning and duration
- increases the planning and control of works to improve safety and reduce damage to the road
