Over 4,000 local households have been supported with the Household Support Fund (HSF) in the last week with Bedford Borough Council making over £345,195 of payments to residents.
Bedford Borough Council is warning people not to fly-tip or dump waste this Christmas holiday.
Instead, people are being encouraged to use the local Household Waste Recycling Centre at Barkers Lane, Bedford MK41 9SB to dispose of any bulky waste.
Bedford Borough Council has announced ambitious plans for another record year of tree planting across the Borough. Last year the council planted over 30,000 trees and this year the target is even bigger with an expectation that over 35,000 trees will be planted.
Bedford Borough Council have been forced to close the foot/bridleway outside the mill in Odell for safety reasons. Following an inspection the bridge has been found to be unsafe for public use.
This year’s community tree planting will take place across five sites. Bedford Borough Council is asking people to volunteer and help plant over 8500 trees during January and February.
Works have begun at Bedford College’s Cauldwell Street campus for the first of six major Bedford Town Deal projects within the successful bid for £22.6m to invest in the local area.
This Christmas, Bedford Borough Council will continue to provide supermarket vouchers to thousands of families who are entitled to income related free school meals, in the Borough.
