Families and carers for children who have special educational needs and/or a disability (SEND) are warned not to be fooled by a website which claims to be offering them help.

Bedford Borough Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information Advice and Support Services (SENDIASS) provide a free, impartial and confidential service to parents and carers.

The bogus website is headlined “Welcome to Bedford SENDIASS” but has no known affiliation to the organisation.

It also features a section where people are invited to provide personal details including their name and email address.

A council spokesperson said; “We are not clear who is responsible for this website or what they hope to achieve.

“If you wish to access the SENDIASS service or find out more about what it has to offer, go to https://localoffer.bedford.gov.uk/.”
