A centre which has provided care for babies, children and young people across Bedfordshire for 50 years is holding a special anniversary event.

The Child Development Centre in Hill Rise, Kempston offers assessment, therapy, educational support and family guidance, both on-site and in the community, for young people from birth to 18 years old, and up to 25 years for those with SEND.

It runs as a partnership between Bedford Borough Council, the East of England Community Health and Care NHS Trust, and Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, with personalised care tailored to the needs of each child, young person, family and practitioner.

To celebrate, a special anniversary event will bring together past and present staff to commemorate their shared achievements and contributions, while also highlighting the dedication and expertise that has shaped the Centre over the past five decades.

Cllr Jane Walker, Portfolio Holder for Valuing Families: Children’s Services said; "This 50th anniversary is a celebration of the lasting, positive difference the Child Development Centre has made to so many children, families and educators in the Borough. It is a chance to mark our shared achievements and look ahead to the future.

“As we celebrate this milestone, the Council and our partners also remain committed to delivering high-quality, inclusive care and continuing the Centre’s vital role in supporting children and families across the region.”
