Bedford Borough Council has committed to continue engaging with residents and bus operators to work towards a sustainable and reliable public bus network across the Borough.

Stagecoach, which runs a number of bus services, recently announced changes to its network.

The Council is actively engaging with the company to fully understand the rationale behind these reductions, and to explore all possible options to mitigate the effects on our communities.

Council officers regularly meet with all bus operators that operate in the Borough. And Councillors from all parties were invited to a special meeting with Stagecoach on 25 March, during which the company outlined the planned service changes.

Councillor Nicky Gribble, Portfolio Holder for Environment, said: “Any changes to bus services can have the potential to disrupt people’s lives, wherever they live in our borough, and we are keen to ensure that our network is both sustainable and reliable.

“We work hard both to be transparent and to put our residents first, in this and in everything we do. We are keen to hear from residents about their experience so do speak to your ward councillor about what these changes might mean to you.”
