Bedford Borough Council is reminding all residents to respond to the Annual Canvass and to check if they need to reapply for a postal vote to ensure they are ready to vote in future elections. Emails and letters are currently being sent to households throughout the borough to update the electoral register and maintain accurate voter information.
The Annual Canvass takes place once a year to help keep the electoral register up to date. Some households may receive more than one email if multiple members have registered using the same email address, but only one response per household is required.
In addition, residents who wish to continue voting by post must reapply for a postal vote every three years. Those affected will receive a separate notification prompting them to reapply, ensuring they do not miss the chance to use a postal vote in future elections.
Returning Officer, Laura Church, said, "We want to assure our residents that the communications you receive about the Annual Canvass and postal vote reapplication are genuine and important. Staying registered and keeping your postal vote arrangements up to date means you’ll be ready to participate in all future elections. Please respond promptly or visit our website for more information and assistance.”
