Bedford Borough Council’s Investigation Service has been named as a finalist in two categories at the Public Sector Counter Fraud Awards.

The team are up for both the Local Excellence and the Public-Private Partnership Excellence categories, with the ceremony set to take place in London in February.

These awards are open to individuals and teams from across Government, local authorities, the NHS, housing associations, and the private sector.

The Local Excellence Award covers the varied work conducted by the Investigations Service, including their work on tenancy fraud, local taxation, Blue Badges, adult social care, grants and payments.  The Public-Private Partnership Excellence Award specifically celebrates the partnership working arrangement between the Investigation Service and bpha to target tenancy fraud and ensure fair use and access of social housing properties.

Councillor Phillippa Martin-Moran-Bryant, Portfolio Holder for Housing and Regulatory Services said; “Being nominated in two categories reflects the hard work and dedication shown by the Investigation Service and their partners to safeguard our residents, finances, services and support schemes.

“Bedford Borough Council take fraud and abuse within its services very seriously and the hard work and dedication shown by the Investigation Service to safeguard public finances and services is rightly being recognised and celebrated with these nominations.”
