Families in Bedford Borough are invited to ignite their creativity this May half-term. Print It, a series of exciting workshops for children aged 5-12 years, is inspired by the upcoming exhibition ‘Edward Bawden Printmaker’. Hosted at The Higgins Bedford, these workshops offer a unique opportunity for young artists to explore the world of printmaking and create their own masterpieces to take home.
Led by talented local artists Katie Allen, Paige Denham, Lisa Tilley, and Anne-Marie Abbate, these high-quality sessions will take place in the Barbican Studio at The Higgins Bedford from May 27-30. There will be three sessions each day. Supported by funding from the Social Prosperity Fund, this initiative aims to foster creativity and cultural engagement in Bedford Borough. Places must be booked in advance and cost £5.50 per child.
Alongside the workshops, families can explore the Edward Bawden Printmaker exhibition, opening on Saturday, 24 May 2025. This captivating display celebrates Bawden’s remarkable legacy as 'The Master of the Linocut' and offers visitors a chance to delve into his innovative techniques and artistic achievements.
Councillor Sarah Gallagher, Portfolio Holder for Customer Experience, Leisure and Culture, said; “The Higgins Bedford is a cornerstone of culture in our community, and Print It is a fantastic way to inspire young minds while showcasing the incredible talent of local artists. We encourage everyone to book their places early and make the most of this creative experience during the half-term holiday.”
Don’t miss this opportunity to nurture your child’s artistic talents while enjoying all that The Higgins Bedford has to offer. Admission to the museum is free, making it a perfect day out for families.
