Volunteers came together in an inspiring display of teamwork at the Big River Festival Clean Up on Sunday 21 July 21.
Starting at 6:30 am, 93 volunteers gathered at Russell Park, The Embankment, Mill Meadows, Castle Mound, Play Areas, Aspects, and the surrounding roads to ensure the festival grounds were spotless and ready to welcome visitors by 10am for the second day of the River Festival.
The clean-up initiative was essential to remove litter from the festival’s first day, ensuring a clean and safe environment for the following day’s activities. Volunteers answered the call to action in incredible numbers, bringing positive spirits and a shared commitment to maintaining the beauty of our community spaces.
"We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support from our volunteers, who joined us in incredible numbers and positive spirits" said Councillor Jim Weir - Deputy Mayor and Portfolio Holder for Environment.
"Their hard work allowed us to clear the site in record time. Thank you to everyone involved - it was great to take part and see it all cleared by 8.15am!"
