Calling all creative minds, this October, Bedford Borough Council invites families to a day of free, fun activities at The Higgins Bedford as part of the nationwide Fun Palaces initiative.

On Saturday 5 October, from 11am to 4pm, The Higgins Bedford will transform into a hub of artistic exploration. Families can participate in a variety of exciting workshops led by local artists and creators, all completely free of charge.

Harness the power of nature and learn how to create stunning cyanotype prints using sunlight.

Spread joy with vibrant blooms and craft beautiful crepe paper flowers, perfect for home décor or gifting.

Explore typography and storytelling in The Higgins Bedford galleries. With Edward Bawden’s artwork as inspiration, use colour, line and drawing to find and make stories.

Be the first to crack the case, join "Murder at The Museum," a brand-new murder mystery app by Cardboard Clues.

“This year's Fun Palaces event at The Higgins Bedford promises something for everyone," says Councillor Sarah Gallagher, Portfolio Holder for Customer Experience, Leisure and Culture at Bedford Borough Council. "With a mix of bookable and drop-in workshops suitable for ages 1 to 100, we encourage families to come together, explore their creativity, and discover the joy of art."

For a full list of workshops and to learn more about booking your spot, visit The Higgins Bedford website at www.thehigginsbedford.org.uk.

Don't miss this fantastic opportunity to celebrate creativity, explore The Higgins Bedford collections, and have a blast with the whole family!

Fun Palaces is an ongoing national campaign dedicated to nurturing and supporting the potential and positivity of sharing people's enthusiasm, passions, and skills with their own local community.
