LibraryPlus gives you extended access to Bedford Borough Libraries. Once you have signed up for LibraryPlus membership, you can use your library card and PIN to enter the library during additional self-service hours.

Check the staffed and self-service opening hours for your local library.

How do I sign up for LibraryPlus?

Just visit your local Bedford Borough library and a member of staff will be happy to sign you up. You need to be 16 years old or over and show a form of ID (such as a driving licence or bank statement) with your name and address.

You will be asked to sign a LibraryPlus agreement and staff will give you a quick induction. Once this is complete you can use your library card and PIN to enter the library during LibraryPlus self-service. Everyone can access libraries during staffed hours.

What can I do during LibraryPlus hours?

You can:

  • browse the shelves
  • borrow, return, and renew items
  • collect requests (not inter library loans)
  • make payments through the self-service terminals
  • use the computers and Wi-Fi

Staff are not available during LibraryPlus hours. If you have an enquiry or need to talk to staff, you will need to visit during staffed hours.

How do I access the library during LibraryPlus self-service hours?

Once you have registered as a LibraryPlus member, you can enter the library during LibraryPlus self-service hours by scanning your library card and entering your PIN at the panel by the entrance, and the doors will open for you. To exit, press the metal button by the doors.

Wootton Library customers also require a code to open the gate in the fence which library staff will provide during your induction.

Do I have to sign-up to LibraryPlus to use the library during staffed hours?

No, if you only plan to use the library during staffed hours you don't need to sign up for LibraryPlus.

Can my group use the library during LibraryPlus hours?

It’s fine for your group to meet during LibraryPlus hours as long as they all sign up for LibraryPlus membership and enter the library as described above. Please be aware that others may be using the space at the same time. Talk to library staff if you run a group or organisation that is interested in using the library.
