Police and Crime Commissioner Election 2021

On Thursday 6 May 2021, there will be an election for the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for Bedfordshire.

Robin Porter will be the Police Area Returning Officer (PARO) for the PCC election in Bedfordshire. He is responsible for the coordination of the election across the whole of the county.

Philip Simpkins will be the Local Returning Officer (LRO) for Bedford Borough. He will have responsibility for overseeing arrangements in the Borough of Bedford.

Counting of the votes cast in Bedford Borough will take place at Borough Hall, Cauldwell Street, Bedford on Friday 7 May 2021.

The LRO will make a declaration of votes cast in the Borough’s areas and the PARO will make the final declaration of the result for the whole of Bedfordshire.

Deadlines for the PCC election

The deadline to register to vote for this election is Monday 19 April 2021.

The deadline to apply for a postal vote or to make a change to an existing postal or proxy vote is Tuesday 20 April 2021 at 5pm.

The deadline for new proxy vote applications is Tuesday 27 April 2021 at 5pm.

If you are interested in working as a Poll Clerk in a Polling Station within Bedford Borough, please complete the Election Staff Application Form and email it to elections@bedford.gov.uk.
