Although it can sometimes feel challenging we all use numbers every day – at work, at home and when we’re out.

If so, we can help. As part of the Government’s Adult Numeracy programme known as Multiply, Bedford Borough Council has received funding to offer courses that will help you to improve your skills and confidence with maths.

Delivered in partnership with Central Bedfordshire Council, the Bedfordshire Employment and Skills Academy (BESA) and our partner training providers, Multiply offers a range of free workshops which will help you feel more confident with the maths you come across in your daily life.

The courses are delivered both in person and virtually on Microsoft Teams, along with a range of online courses to help you learn at your own pace and at a time that suits you.

Maths skills workshops

These introductory workshops will help you build your confidence with essential everyday maths skills and to apply them to tasks at work and at home. Multiply will help you take your first steps towards a maths qualification. 

Money skills workshops

These workshops will support you with managing your finances and making your money go further, covering cost of living support, budgeting and understanding borrowing and debt. There are longer courses to help you become a savvy with your shopping and cutting costs in the kitchen.

Creative skills workshops

Come along to our creative skills workshops to develop everyday skills through crafts and games. But all with a fun-twist.

Online courses - learn at a pace that suits you

Can’t make a workshop? Don’t miss out! These short courses will also help you build confidence with key life skills to support you with day-to-day tasks involving maths and money skills whenever suits you. .

How to take part and choose a course

To take part in our workshops and courses, you have to:

• be aged 19 or over
• live or work in Bedford Borough or Central Bedfordshire
• not have a maths qualification equal to a GCSE grade C/4+
